Downloading Instructions

We now have more than 130 articles on-line, and many more will follow shortly. Anyone visiting our Web pages can:

• view all our published document titles and abstracts free of charge.
• List all the titles and abstracts of publications within a particular journal.
• Search for any title or abstract by date, or by any word(s) contained with the title and/or abstract.
• Download free articles using a dummy account (see later).
• Where appropriate, select an article to be downloaded as either a PDF or HTML file.

Subscribe to Electronic Journals Ltd. and you can then download chargeable items. All chargeable items are individually priced, so you pay only for the articles you require. Subscribers to Electronic Journals Ltd. will be able to download any of our published documents provided their request is covered by sufficient funds in their accounts. Subscribers can also find out the remaining balance in their account at any time.

High Quality Publishing using Portable Document Format (PDF)

.....PDF has already become the standard format for the electronic transference of material within and between many corporations and individuals (e.g. many on-line newpapers use PDF format). Some of these companies have already found that it has saved them millions of dollars, and sharply reduced the amount of staff time spent on paperwork.

Most of our articles and reports are formatted as PDF files. To view a PDF formatted article, you must have installed a version of the PDF reader such as Adobe ACROBAT on your network or PC. If you have not got a copy of this application program, then one can be downloaded FREE from

Whether or not you decide to take out a subscription with Electronic Journals Ltd., a PDF reader will prove very useful for reading many other Web documents. Using a PDF reader, you can display a document on screen or alternatively print it out for a hard copy.

If you have not downloaded programs via the Internet before - this is usually a very quick and simple operation. Alternatively you will probably be able acquire this an other Adobe products from local computer and software retailers.

Troubleshooting

• Documents are downloaded with the default name "document.pdf". Please make sure in each case that you change the filename to on of your choice, so that if you download more than one file, you do not erase the first file by copying the second on top of it.

• If you experience problems in loading PDF documents using the new Netscape plug-in version of Adobe Acrobat (Acrobat 3.0), then please check that Acrobat is properly configured. Go to the Acrobat folder and make a copy of the file entitled PDF Viewer. Please put this file into the Netscape plug-ins folder.
  
  
• If you have an older copy of Adobe's Acrobat PDF reader, (eg version 2.1), you can still configure Netscape to open this application when downloading a PDF file. To do this, go to the OPTIONS menu in Netscape and then choose GENERAL PREFERENCES. Then choose HELPERS. Acrobat should be present in the list of helper applications with the following configuration:
  
  MIME TYPE: Application
  SUBMIME TYPE: postscript
  APPLICATION: Adobe Acrobat. 2.1
  ACTION: launch.
  FILE EXTENSION: pdf
  
  
  After you have downloaded and saved a PDF file from our pages, you can then view the PDF file using the PDF reader.
  
  Please also refer to the release notes given with the relevant programs for further help. (Microsoft are also developing a PDF plug-in for their Internet Explorer web browser. we will be adding any instructions for using this plug-in as soon as possible.)
